Fish depend on you
Conservation is about protecting fish and fisheries from threats like habitat loss and poor water quality. It’s up to all of us to conserve Kansas waterways and the creatures who live in them so we can preserve responsible fishing for generations to come.
How to Support healthy fish and lakes
Follow the Rules
Fishing regulations are not carelessly enacted to steal fun or limit freedom, they’re in place to protect the water, species who live there, and the individuals who enjoy fishing.
Handle with Care
Hold fish securely, without causing harm. Take care in removing hooks and lures. Limit time fish spend out of the water. Only harvest what you will consume. Ensure kept fish are of legal size.
Leave No Trace
Never leave your trash behind. Put your trash in bins, and if there are none available, bring it with you when you leave. Litter has a negative impact on the environment.
Avoid transporting invasive species
Introducing a non-native species into a new area can cause significant damage to the ecology of the area. Study up on invasive species and avoid transporting them in your gear or boat.
